Ceres is a lean, mission-driven organization running a multi-venue film festival across New York City. This role sits at the center of it — keeping the details in order so the bigger picture can happen. Right now that means supporting off-season operations: wrapping up Season 10, helping build toward next season, and keeping the infrastructure running in between. You’ll work directly with the Festival Director and producers on everything from venue logistics and filmmaker correspondence to internal documents and event-day execution when the time comes.
This is the right role if you’re studying film production, arts administration, or a related field and want real, hands-on experience with how a festival actually runs. You’ll see the infrastructure behind the programming, and you’ll be trusted to help build and maintain it.
Responsibilities
Track action items, deadlines, and follow-ups across multiple events and venues
Maintain and update internal documents, timelines, and contact sheets
Support venue and vendor communication
Assist with filmmaker correspondence and screener logistics
Help build and manage run-of-show documents for each event
Provide on-site production support during events
We’re looking for someone who
Is studying film production, producing, arts administration, or a closely related field
Is organized, proactive, and genuinely enjoys making things run smoothly
Has strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
Has an interest in documentary film and independent media
Can communicate clearly and follow up and take ownership over the role.

Write and optimize video descriptions, tags, and thumbnail briefs
Support the development of our channel
Contribute to social media strategy and campaign brainstorming with the communications team
Skills
Familiarity with YouTube Studio and analytics
Strong visual sensibility and attention to presentation
Proficiency with Canva and/or other creative tools
Understanding of social media trends and digital storytelling
Interest in independent film, food culture, or documentary media

Ceres has received a Google Ad Grant and needs an experienced digital marketing professional to put it to work. This is not an entry-level role — we’re looking for someone who already knows how to build and manage effective Google Ads campaigns and wants to donate that expertise to an organization doing meaningful work.
You’ll own both the strategy and execution: defining campaign goals, building out ad groups and keyword targeting, writing copy, and monitoring performance. The ideal person has run grant-funded nonprofit campaigns before and understands the specific requirements and constraints of the Google for Nonprofits program.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a Google Ads strategy aligned with festival goals
Build and manage campaigns, ad groups, and keyword targeting
Write ad copy and advise on landing page alignment
Monitor performance and optimize campaigns over the festival season
Ensure compliance with Google Ad Grant requirements
Skills
Proven experience managing Google Ads campaigns, ideally including nonprofit grants

Ceres receives hundreds of documentary submissions each season. Film Review Volunteers work with the programming team to watch and evaluate films, flag strong candidates, and help organize potential screening blocks around key themes. This is a meaningful role for anyone with a serious interest in documentary cinema and the issues Ceres cares about.
Responsibilities
Screen documentary submissions and provide written evaluations
Assist with filmmaker correspondence as needed
Help identify and organize films around thematic programming clusters
Research films from other programs for potential outreach
Skills
Strong interest in documentary cinema and critical viewing
Clear, substantive written communication
Curiosity about food systems, sustainability, and environmental and social justice issues
Understanding of event programming and thematic curation
